Universal Studios has announced that their next venture after Volcano Bay and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will be based on Nintendo World. After hearing rumors for some years, Universal Studios finally confirmed in the year 2015 that yes indeed, they have been working on developing a brand new attraction line based on Nintendo.

As per the rumors speculated by various sources, it seems now that Universal has decided not to go forward with their plans of having Kids Zone replaced by Nintendo. Originally, the plan was to have this area feature many Nintendo franchises, such as Kirby and Zelda. Later on, it was decided that this would not be implemented because the structure of the rides for Donkey Kong and the Mario Kart will take up most part of the land.

MARIO KART

Universal Studios has officially announced one of the attractions so far: Mario Kart. This ride will be based off the Mario spinoff series widely played on various Nintendo handhelds and consoles. Although no details of the coaster ride have been disclosed, Universal Studios has promised that they will use innovative technology to provide an attraction the world has never seen before.

Up until now, what has been decided is that two major rides will be featured in the park. The Mario Kart ride will use the concept of augmented reality while the Donkey Kong ride uses a patented coaster structure, which gives the impression to the riders that they too are jumping the track when Donkey Kong’s cart jumps in the game.

Nintendo Studios has confirmed they are working on many upcoming movies alongside with Universal’s Illumination Entertainment. Although few details are shared regarding a Pokemon movie lined up for the next year, along with Mario Brothers movie scheduled for the upcoming years, it’s quite likely the timings will coincide with the inauguration of Super Mario World in Japan by the year 2020. This will be the perfect timing for the 2020 Olympics which will be held in the country.
