Train To Connect Miami To Orlando

Added: Dec 01, 2018
Category: Tips & Tricks

Previously, when a person wanted to travel from Miami to Orlando, it took around 4 hours commuting in their own car and around 5 hours by bus. They could also fly, which may cut the journey short to less than an hour. However, going to the airport, waiting, check-in, and reclaiming the luggage also takes a considerable amount of time which eradicates the point of traveling by air in the first place. In order to circumvent this problem, a new express rail line is getting constructed to connect Orlando and Miami in around 3 hours.

TRAIN TO CONNECT MIAMI TO ORLANDO

If you are planning a trip to Florida from Miami, you can catch a train thanks to the new rail line. Brightline is the state’s new express passenger rail service, which is currently operating in its introductory phase, providing service to passengers to travel between Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. If things go smoothly, the train is to be completely operational and extend service into downtown Miami in the upcoming months, with a forthcoming service to Orlando as well.

Currently, the train service features 10 daily round-trips during the weekdays and 9 round-trips during the weekends. It allows passengers to travel between Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach in a meager duration of 35 minutes. The construction of Miami Station is underway and Brightline is estimated to expand their service by summer or spring, which is excellent news for passengers looking for a comfortable and quick way to travel from Miami.

That is not it, construction on phase 2 is also expected to begin later this year, which will connect Orlando International Airport as well. Many officials are of opinion that trains could potentially start making the journey of 235-mile to Orlando by 2021. The speed of the train is expected to be somewhere around 125mph, allowing passengers to travel between Orlando and Miami in a duration of around 3 hours.

Brightline is the only privately-owned and operated rail system in the United States. The president and CEO of Brightline, Patrick Goddard has shown great interest in this project and seemed to be pleased with the launch of introductory service. He expects that their service will provide convenience and comfort to passengers along with premium hospitality. He also believes that they will set a new standard for passenger rail service in the United States. Nevertheless, it is a welcoming news for residents in Miami and Florida and definitely going to reap great benefits in the years to come.
